Dementia Day Club

This service provides specialist day care for people living with dementia in community-based venues. Sessions take place in local settings so attendees experience a social day out rather than a formal care environment.

The service works as both a prevention and respite service. It supports people to remain living at home for longer and gives family carers regular time away from their caring role.

All sessions include activities based on the principles of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST). CST is an evidence-based approach shown to support thinking, memory, and communication. Activities are structured but flexible and focus on keeping people mentally and socially active.

• Home-cooked meals and refreshments, with dietary needs catered for
• Support with personal care and medication where required
• A mix of group activities, quiet time, and optional outdoor walks

Venues are fully accessible and include quiet areas for rest as well as spaces for activities and meals.

Who can access the service

The service is available to adults living with dementia. Family carers can self-refer or make contact directly to discuss suitability.

A free taster day is available for new attendees. This allows people living with dementia and their families to try the service before deciding whether to attend regularly.
